NICU Day 3
Day 3: Jimmy seems more comfortable today. They increased his tube feed from 3mL to 6mL. The more he eats, the closer he is to getting rid of his IV. They decreased the saturation on his tube, but increased the pressure so he doesn't have to work as hard. He's making wet diapers, but they're giving him a suppository later to get his little system moving. His bilirubin levels are climbing, so he will be spending some time under blue lights to bring those levels back down. His doctor and nurses seem pleased with his progress so far. He does try to open his eyes when he hears us talking, and having warm hands laid on him seems to comfort him.
I'm expecting to come home on Sunday. My blood pressure is still not cooperating, but the doctor is watching it and they are treating it with medication to keep it stable. I am healing well so far. Each day gets easier. It's a little difficult to get up and down, but once I'm comfortable, I don't feel too bad. I actually slept pretty well last night, regardless of waking up every 3 hours to pump milk for Jimmy. Tim and the nurses have been looking after me very well. :)
