Halloween

Evelyn chose her own costume this year. She's very excited to be Pirate Evie :)

My little pirate and little pumpkin before the Moms Club fall party

Breaking into her treats at the party

Last stop on the trick or treat loop :) We went around an entire street in our neighborhood and
filled her bucket halfway. We were light on trick or treaters this year, so our neighbors were generous.

"Trick or Treat, Daddy!"

Waiting with me to hand out candy.

2 Months

We went in for Jimmy's 2 month check up today. He's measuring 20.75 in and weighing in at 8lbs, 1.5oz. He's in NB clothes (though not for much longer) and size 1 diapers. He's doing exactly what he's supposed to be doing developmentally (if you remember that he's technically still a 'newborn'). He has at least one good period of awake time during the day (usually in the afternoon or evening). Evelyn loves to hold his hand while he has floor time and will lay on her belly next to him while he has tummy time. She is a very good big sister-- she's very helpful at home and is proving herself to be good at following directions when we're out and about now that I don't have two hands to keep her in line with :P She likes to bring Jimmy pacifiers when he cries and she says "Bless you!" no matter what sound he makes (coughs, sneezes, burps, farts, etc). She rocks his rocker when he cries and I'm not in arm's reach, and she talks to him in the car if he starts crying. I'm so proud of her :)

We're adjusting well now-- we're starting to figure out routines, but we're not back to being fully functional yet. I am very glad Evelyn still takes a good nap in the afternoon or I would get almost nothing done :-/ But we have worked out a routine at night that allows us to all get a decent amount of sleep, which is great. And I've even done a couple of solo outings with both kids by myself. There are still some routines that are a little much for me to do alone (like bathtime and bedtime), but we'll figure them out, just like we did with Evelyn :)

Pumpkin Patch

So today might not have been ideal weather (overcast, chilly, and muddy from all the rain last night), but we have plans the next couple of weekends and Evelyn has been asking to go get a pumpkin. So we headed to the pumpkin patch this afternoon.

Evelyn enjoyed the wagon ride

Jimmy slept through our trip

"This one!"

Evelyn spent the entire half hour we were there declaring most of the pumpkins "too big".

But this teeny one was just right :P
Despite the cool, windy fall weather, we had a nice afternoon out and managed handling a toddler and an infant with only a little bit of stress :P And we came home with 2 large pumpkins, two medium pumpkins, a small white pumpkin, Evie's teeny pumpkin, and a handful of gourds. If Jimmy remembers how to sleep at night, we might actually get around to carving them before Halloween gets here ;)

Nice Day for a Walk

We took a walk around the neighborhood today. The weather has been beautiful lately :) It was still summer when I went into the hospital, but there is a very distinct fall feel to the weather now :)
Evelyn enjoyed helping Mom walk Max and Jimmy did very well with his first outing in the carrier.

Tests, tests, and more tests.

Jimmy has passed every test and screening (here he is getting his newborn hearing screening done) tossed his way in the last couple of days. The only thing keeping him from coming home is a night free of alarms and temperature drops. If he has a good night, he should be able to come home tomorrow morning

4 weeks

4 weeks old today:) He passed his fit test for the car seat (officially) and will do his sit test tomorrow or Friday. His bed is on its lowest setting now, and as long as he keeps his temp up tonight, he'll be in an open bed tomorrow:) He weighed in at 5lbs, 6.5oz overnight. He gained 2 oz in his first 24 hours on ad lib feedings. I feel like I can sit there and watch his cheeks puff up. He looks like a little chipmunk.

35 weeks gestation

35 weeks gestation today  Jimmy is on "ad lib" feedings now--he still has a schedule, but can eat as much as he wants at a feeding. In the last 24 hours, he's taken anywhere from 1.3-2 oz at a time. Soon he'll have his car seat test (has to tolerate his car seat for an hour without setting off any alarms).

Bath Time

Jimmy had his first bath in the water today!! His feeding tube is out and he's eating 100% by mouth!! And the doctor said he'd be eating on demand soon! Now he just needs to hold his temperature and stop setting off alarms so he can come home :)

Feeding Progress

Jimmy is up to 90% of his food by mouth now! On the fast track for getting rid of that feeding tube :)

Happy Birthday to Me :)

I spent my 29th birthday hanging out with this little guy, then went home and spent the evening with Tim and Evie. We had cake and I opened my present (a fancy digital camera we're going to use as a video monitor when Jimmy starts sleeping in the nursery). Jimmy started taking bottles today. He finished the very first bottle he was ever given early this morning, and he had all of his food by mouth while I was with him at the hospital today :)

New Hat

Jimmy outgrew the first hat I made him, so he has a new little hat with a pompom now:) He's continuing to get better at eating this week. He's doing well with his eating-- and he starts getting bottles when he turns 34 weeks on Tuesday. Hoping to make quick work of getting rid of that last tube :)

Unofficial Car Seat Fit Test

Jimmy fits in his car seat! Which means we won't have to do a last minute exchange like we did for Evelyn. We'll do the official fit test and the sit test (where he has to hang out in the seat for an hour and a half without setting off any alarms) when he's closer to being discharged.
