Another Weekend Update

All our plans went very well this weekend, thanks to the cooperation of the weather! I have a little sunburn on my nose, but that's OK:)

We went to a place in Mount Joy called Pub Donegal for dinner on Friday with Gerry and Emily. We ate out on the patio since it was so nice, and then had to pause our conversations every two minutes when a fire truck or police car would come by with their siren blaring. Turns out the feed mill down the road caught on fire, but when we drove by, everyone was just standing around and there were no flames or smoke to be seen. Either we missed the excitement, or it was no big deal and everyone was just bored:P

The corn maze was fun:) It took us a little less than an hour to finish. We went on a hayride around the farm, got some cider and hot chocolate, then headed home. Gerry was the only good sport about pictures:

On Saturday, we went to the Apple Blossom Festival with Mom, Dan, Emily, Mamaw, Papaw, Frank and Grace:) We enjoyed the food and the vendors and I got my fancy broom, but there were so many people and so few places to sit down! The line to buy cider was really long, so we ended up going to Hollabaughs' for apples and cider after leaving the festival:P We ran into Wayne, who seems to be doing well:)

After all that, Mom wanted to check out a new park in Fairfield to go walking in, so we drove out to see it. It's called Strawberry Hill, and it was very quiet compared to Oakside:)

The backseat was the windiest :-x

Trees at Strawberry Hill. It's a nature preserve, so some of it was actually reforested. Hence the straight rows.

Cool reflections in the pond.

We had dinner with Tim's family, then headed home with our new washer and dryer:) We popped in a movie and went right to bed, then slept until a little after 11 this morning.
When we got up, we decided to have pancakes on the deck, since it was such a nice day outside. After we'd finished eating and were sitting around chatting, we heard someone coming up through our woods. He came out, saw us, waved, and said "Hey!" like he does this all the time. Tim said something about how we should maybe put up some No Trespassing and we had been talking about it for maybe a minute when the same guy came running back around the other side of the house (between the house and the shed). I shouted at him, "Hey! This is private property!" and he just says sorry, then keeps running through our little fire circle area. So I said, "What part of 'this is private property' don't you understand?" He apologized again, just as a police officer came running around the side of the house after him, yelling at him to get out of the woods before he gets tazed. So we just stood there staring as he comes up out of the woods and the officer cuffs him, checks his pockets, then leads him away. Another officer came around the opposite side of the house and asked if we'd seen anyone else. We said no, and they took him out front, put him in a car and drove off. After a few minutes, two more police cars and an unmarked car pulled away as well.

Wow. Maybe we should stop enjoying our meals outdoors!!
