Real Food and Sunshine

So...as part of our new budget, we've made the resolution to eat out less. Much less. Because the food section of our budget is always over by, well, a lot at the end of the budget period. So I broke out the recipe book and flagged all the easy, tasty-sounding recipes, then had Tim pick some for this week. We ended up with baked mac and cheese one night, and I made my first slow-cooked spiced chili recipe (which was a little more involved than the turkey-chili). I had quesadillas on the menu for today, but ended up with a stir-fry instead.

Baked Mac & Cheese:) Yum! Have to use sharp cheddar next time to give it a little more flavor.

Spiced chili:) Made 12 servings, so I should only have to make it every 6 weeks unless we have company:P (LOOK, MOM--I put tomatoes and onions in it...and then I ATE IT).
I also had to take a picture of the sun coming through the trees yesterday. It was glorious, especially after all that rain. I opened all the shades in the house to make sure we got some nice sunlight in to kill some bacteria:P
The grass and all the plants are loving the sunshine, cool fall breeze, and damp ground:)

We're headed to Cherry Crest farm tomorrow with Gerry and Emily to go to the corn maze--in the dark! (I understand that they give you a map). Included in admission is a bonfire and a hayride. Sounds like a fun fall outing to me:) I hope they have s'mores and hot chocolate or cider at the bonfire--that would be super:) And it's all over by 10, so we should get back and get plenty of sleep before heading to Biglerville for the Apple Harvest on Saturday:)

Speaking of Apple Harvest:

I wonder if the guy with the fancy old cars will be back :)
