NICU Day 15

Sorry I haven't updated in awhile. I've been good about posting daily on facebook, but I know not everyone can see that.

Here's today's photo:

Since I last posted, he graduated from a high flow cannula to a low flow cannula to no cannula (as of yesterday). They're working on getting him to hold his temperature by slowly turning down the temperature in his isolette, but we've had a few days where we had to turn it up because he was chilly when we took his temperature.
We've been allowed to try nursing for the last 3 days. I'm usually there for 3 of his feedings, and of those three one goes really well. But, considering he's so small and really shouldn't even be here yet, he's doing very well. Now that his respiratory issues have resolved, we're just working on teaching him how to eat and getting him to hold his own temperature before he can go home.
His weight has gone up to 4lbs, 9oz, so he's officially above his birth weight. He's also a bit too long for preemie sized outfits, so we've been dressing him in newborn clothes. Even though he swims in them width-wise :P

The last couple of weeks have not been easy, but it feels like they have flown by. Which is peculiar, since 15 days was as long as Evelyn was in the NICU at Hershey, and that felt like an eternity. I'm chalking it up to Womens & Babies being a much brighter, friendlier place with zero nurses that I didn't trust with his care. Seriously. All of the nurses in the NICU and the SCU (where I stayed) have been great. A couple of the nurses that cared for me have popped in to peek at Jimmy, and the NICU nurses are happy to answer questions or just chat, if they're not too busy.

I hope I haven't jynxed myself, now. :-x
