6 Months!

Last Monday, Evelyn turned 6 months old:) But I've waited until today to update, since her checkup was today and we have some fresh stats. Evelyn is now 16.7lbs (75%), 25.8in long (50%), with a head circumference of 18in (off the chart). They measured her head twice, just to check, but didn't seem concerned, since her head has been big for her age all along.

She is now wearing her 6-9 month clothes, although she can still get away with fitting into some of her 3-6 month clothes. She eats 6-7oz every 4-5 hours, and sleeps through the night. In fact, we went cold turkey on the swaddle on Friday night, and haven't looked back. She's still in her rocker at night, mostly because her reflux wakes her every couple of hours if she's lying flat. Hopefully as we get into solids, that won't be as much of an issue. Little Girl needs to start sleeping in her own room!
We've been giving her rice cereal with bananas mixed in, which she's okay with, and she thought oatmeal was the best thing ever until a few days ago, when she started to refuse it. We have clearance to start all purees and, when she's ready for them, finger foods. So I made some sweet potato, avocado, acorn squash, and apples. So far we've tried the sweet potato, but I didn't get it puree'd well enough, so we moved on to squash. She's had squash the last couple of days and is warming up to it. Apples are next--hopefully those go over well:)

She did finally figure out how to roll over. So we know she can roll back-to-belly and belly-to-back...but she now refuses to. It's like she forgot she knows how. I've been giving her lots of time on her belly lately, but instead of flipping over when she's sick of it, she yells, then puts her head down and stares out the window...grr. She is sitting with very little support now, but still flies off to whichever side she flings her head. She definitely prefers being upright now, but isn't a big fan of the exersaucer or the jumper for longer than a few minutes. She is reaching and grabbing for things more, and she is very vocal right now. When she's not screeching like a baby dinosaur, she's gurgling and cooing.

Tim has been getting up with her in the morning and giving her the first bottle of the day, which allows me a little extra sleep--especially nice on those nights Evelyn decides to wake halfway through, totally ready to take on the day. And now when he walks into the room, she smiles and does her little excited wiggle. He's able to calm her more easily, which is great because it used to upset him when she'd just scream at him until I came and got her.

We have been going for walks in the park with the local mommy group, so she gets lots of fresh air and then some playtime with other babies close to her age. Mostly they sit around on a blanket and screech at each other while us moms chat away, but it's good to get out:)

I can't believe she's a half a year old already! It's so fun to watch her grow and learn...although we do wish she'd get over this I-found-my-voice stage. Mommy and Daddy can only take so much shouting!
