4-Month Checkup

Evelyn had her 4 month checkup yesterday, and the pediatrician is impressed with her growth:) She is now 13 lbs 9 oz, 24 inches long with a 16 3/4 inch head. She went from 1% to 31% in height, 5% to 41% in weight, and 35% to 86% in head circumference in the last two months. Her eyes and ears looked good, and she smiled and cooed for the doctor. She even tried flipping herself over when the doctor put her on her belly.

The doctor told us we could start offering Evelyn rice cereal to see if she'll take something thicker than formula, which will help her get over her reflux a little faster. So I got some rice cereal, mixed it up with her formula, and this is what we got:

Here's a longer version on YouTube: http://youtu.be/AYG-Cy9Oryc

She took it in okay, but then didn't know what to do with it. Most of it got drooled back out because she kept smiling after each bite:P It was fun, but I don't think she's quite ready, so we'll try again every few days or so. The pediatrician would like her taking cereal twice a day by the time she's 6 months old. The sooner she starts taking thicker foods, the better time she will have keeping her food down, and the sooner we can get her off of the Zantac.

All in all she seems to be doing very well and is right on track despite her rough start:)

  1. Oh my, you would think there was pickle juice in there! That was hilarious! She will get the hang of it in no time though.
