Where's Noah With that Ark I Ordered??

While Tim spent the day at his office, I slept in a bit, wandered through the yard to check out the water retention, and worked on unpacking the kitchen. I got the kitchen *mostly* done. Well enough to make a pot of delicious turkey chili:)

The sump pump has been working wonderfully to keep the basement dry...there is water in the space between the floor and the wall, which drains directly to the pump, which kicks on and drains (a lot quicker than any other sump pump I've seen) every 10 minutes or so (draining lasts about 30 seconds). Everything appears to be working as it was designed to.

The retention basin is also doing it's job. There are two large puddles that flow nicely into the drain. The pipe that filters water from the shopping center has made a temporary waterfall, and the stream is a few feet wide, but nowhere near the height of the bank yet. There is a lot of standing water in the yard, but the ground is so wet, it has nowhere to go. It's so muddy under the tree on the other side of the shed that the little branches falling from the tree stick up on end in the ground. I hope we can get a break from this rain soon ( the sound of it is starting to drive me crazy...I need some sunshine!! ) so everything can start to drain away.

The rose bush seems to be enjoying the rain and cool weather.

Puddles in the retention basin.

Drains draining away.

If you look closely, you'll see the temporary waterfall.

Standing water in the woods.

Campfire clearing is a mucky mess:(

The stream is a stream now...wonder where all the minnows will end up.
They're calling for our area to get anywhere from 6-10 inches of rain between today and Friday...We're going to have to hack the grass back with machetes before we can mow again.
