Sushi!

I've been fighting a major sushi craving lately, but it's hard to know what's been cooked and what hasn't. Also, that stuff is a little expensive! So after an afternoon of research and watching videos, I went over to Giant and picked up supplies-- a special bamboo mat for rolling the sushi, special rice that is extra sticky, pressed seaweed paper (the black stuff), and krab/cucumber/avocado for filling. The Giant here has a really nice international food aisle with more than Mexican and Italian stuff. They also have kosher, Thai, Japanese, and Chinese stuff. It's really nice, since there aren't a lot of international restaurants around here. I visit this aisle a lot.

So I brought everything home and got cooking while Evelyn watched Sesame Street. It took about an hour to cook the rice, slice everything up, and put the rolls together. I did a California Roll. It was really good with a little bit of soy sauce :)

They aren't the prettiest sushi rolls I've ever seen, but they held their shape and tasted good, so I'm happy :)
