The TARDIS Clock

So this is exciting. I finished the TARDIS clock this evening!
Several weeks ago, I sat down and drew out a pattern for Mom to cut out on the scroll saw. And then we scrapped it because it was too intricate. And so I drew out a second one with fewer holes.

Then I made copies and gave it to Mom, who cut it out of craft plywood using her scroll saw:

She glued the pattern to the board...
Drilled holes in each space and cut it out...
Lots of cutting!
Just the outline left...
Tah-dah!
After she cut out all the pieces, she sanded and sanded and sanded, then turned it over to me. The first thing I did was to paint it a nice TARDIS blue:

Then, since I didn't have enough space on the shaft of the timepiece to do a second layer of craft plywood, I found some really thin birch, mod-podged some scrapbook paper to it, then glued it to the back of the clock and sanded until the edges were even.

Then I painted the edges and back, added a coat of mod-podge to seal the layers together, and sprayed it with a clear craft enamel.

Once it was dry, I added the clock parts, which came as a kit, so I didn't do anything fancy there.

And now I have a fully-functional TARDIS clock! Now....where to hang it so that guests in our home immediately notice what huge nerds we are...
