11 Months!

Today, Evelyn turns 11 months old. She is wearing 12 month-sized clothes, size 4 diapers, and is eating 1.5 containers of food now at each meal. She's still drinking 4 bottles of formula per day, but we're going to start transitioning her to whole milk in a couple of weeks. She's weighing in around 21lbs now. She's gaining weight slower now that she's getting to be more mobile.
Her main mode of transportation now is crawling, and she loves to get into things. It's like she doesn't have toys anymore! If she sees something she hasn't explored yet, there's no distracting her with anything she's already played with. We've been leaving things out in the kitchen that are safe for her to play with (like ice trays we can't even use with the type of fridge we have, placemats, plastic spoons, etc). She likes to pull them off her shelf, bang them on the floor, or scoot them around with her hands. She is starting to notice our faces more when we're talking. She'll watch our mouths move and we can see the gears grinding, but she's not quite there yet. She has "mamama" and "dadadada" down and will make those sounds when she sees one of us, but doesn't have anything I'd call a word yet. She can clap, wave, and high-five, and is showing us she understands our language by doing things with only verbal prompting (ex: crawling over to us if we say "come here").
In just 4 weeks, she'll be a whole year old. We'll get her some cake to smash into and give her some new toys and it will be fun, but I'll be just a little sad that my baby girl is just that much closer to toddlerhood:)
