So. Someone was outgrowing her infant seat at an alarming rate. And, ever since she started teething and crawling, our car rides have been a little more stressful. Usually, she'll sit there and babble and play with her toys, but once she's had enough, she's pretty forceful about letting you know. So we figured she'd be a little happier in a seat with more space.
And so we shelled out some cash for a convertible car seat. And all that means is that this seat will be strapped to our back seat until Evelyn is either too tall or too heavy for it. She has to face backwards until she's 40lbs or her head is the same height as the back of the seat. And then it will flip around to face forward and she'll still be in it until she's 65lbs or her ears are over the top of the back of the seat. So, you know, at least 1st grade, lol.
And after that, she has to be in a booster seat for who knows how long. I don't even know. Until she's 8 or something like that. So 3rd grade.
Anyway. We did some research, then went to Babies R Us and stared blankly at the wall of car seats. We immediately ruled out anything over $200. Because, yeah...after a certain point you're just paying for extra padding and cup holders and the brand name. And we settled on the Graco My Ride 65 DLX (DLX stands for Delux. Don't know why they didn't just say so...it's only two more letters).
Tim and Evelyn had some fun with the box:
And then we went ahead and installed it and tested it out. It came with some extra padding that I didn't thing she'd need, but the straps are a little loose on her on the tightest setting, so I guess she'll have to use at least the bottom piece for awhile. But she seems pleased:)
And she has a lot of growing to do yet. With all the things that remind us that she's growing up so fast, it was nice to plop her in her car seat and have it make her look small again:)
