Evelyn is 9 months old now...that's 3/4 of a year! Already! My best estimates on her size are that she's around 22lbs and maybe 31-32 inches. We'll find out for sure at her 9 month check up on the 28th. We're getting in a little late because there was a mix-up with the doctor's office switching over to digital files. But at least she doesn't need any immunizations this time. (yay!)
She's done with her 6-9 month clothes now. They've been put away and replaced with 9-12 month sized clothes. And she's up to size 4 in diapers. She outgrows them sometimes before we even finish off a box. We're planning on going to a consignment sale with Jill at the end of the month to stock up on winter clothes. Thanks to Dan and Emily, we're pretty well set on Fall stuff.
Evelyn is eating pretty much every puree that Gerber makes, but which ones she likes seems to change with the phases of the moon or something. Which makes it hard to make our own food for her, since the batches end up so large. So we're sticking to the store-bought kind until she's into finger foods. We're getting into mixed flavors in the Stage 2 foods now, which she seems to enjoy. She is starting to show a preference for fruits over vegetables, but she still loves green beans, carrots, and squash. Sweet potatoes are beginning to be a no-no...they make her too gassy:-x She LOVES bananas, but not in Puff form. And we recently discovered that she is capable of picking up food and putting it in her mouth herself, so we've been giving her lots of puffs to encourage this. They come in all kinds of flavors, but apple cinnamon is her favorite:) She is also getting the hang of her sippy cups, which we use to give her water. And she has started showing less and less interest in her formula, which I've heard is normal for this age.
Her sleeping has been a little sporadic lately. She was on a nice nap schedule and was sleeping through the night, but now it's touch and go, and we're just following her cues. She's been waking up after a few hours at night, ready to play. Which, at 2 am, is worse than a screaming baby:-x because no amount of rocking or singing is going to get her back to sleep--you have to keep yourself awake for a couple of hours so she can wear herself out playing.
She is getting very mobile now. She has mastered army-crawling and can scoot, roll, and pull herself around the room to get to toys or specks of dirt on the carpet. She can get from a sitting to a crawling position on her own, and will get up on hands and knees for a few paces before flopping back on her belly. She also puts her head upside down between her hands and sticks her butt in the air like she's going to do a head stand:P She loves looking out the back door and kicking at the shades, which make a nice loud noise when they clash together.
She is making lots of different sounds now. She can say mamamama, dadadada, bababa, ga, pa, and all her vowel noises, and many combinations of all of the sounds. She likes to do this when we're having conversations with each other or other adults. She will also babble back if we're talking to her.

| She was just a little bigger than her seahorse when we brought her home. |
| Om nom nom! |
| Forget the seahorse...Mama's camera looks tastier! |
| She went back to her seahorse because I wouldn't let her chew on my camera lens. |
| Drama queen! |
| That's better. |
| This is what we see 90% of her waking hours now. |
| She can't crawl without making noise. |
| Her toes. |
| I love them:) |
