Evelyn turned 8 months old this past weekend. She weighs around 20lbs and is growing like a weed. She's breaking into her 12 month clothes now, although we are still "stuffing" her into her 9 month onesies because all of her 12 month onesies are long-sleeved. I think we may have to suck it up and get a pack of short-sleeved ones, because we still have August and September left before it really starts to get cool enough for long sleeves.
She is eating all fruits and veggies made in puree form by Gerber :P I have homemade avocados for her and, now that I know what she likes, I can make batches of homemade baby foods. She has cereal and fruit for breakfast and veggies for dinner, and 8-oz bottles for her other 2 feedings.
She is a very smiley baby. She is always smiling. She's friendlier when were out in public than I am. She smiles at cashiers and she smiles at the people in front of or behind us in line. She smiles when we come to get her from her crib, and she smiles when we talk to her. She is starting to chatter (we've heard "dadada", "nanana" and "bababa" just this week) and stringing syllables together so that she sounds very much like she's talking. And other times, she'll just sit there with her toys and growl.
She has been spending a lot of time, rolling around on the floor, playing with toys, and looking very much like she wants to crawl. She can scoot and wriggle and pivot on her belly, but she's not getting up on her hands and knees yet. She can sit up on her own for long periods of time, but when she wants to lay down again, she just throws herself off to the side, which is something I'm hoping she moves past soon:P
She is sleeping very well at night now. She's been in her crib since the beginning of July. She takes her naps there, and she sleeps through the night regularly. (knock on wood). She moves around so much in her sleep, though. She's never in the same place when I look in on her. She sleeps with the little blanket that Grace made her, and we put the breathable bumper on the crib because she kept sticking her limbs through the slats and we don't want her to get stuck. Occasionally she wakes a little earlier than we'd like, and she doesn't know how to sleep in on the weekends (lol), but we can't complain about getting several consecutive hours of sleep at night.
And we are bracing ourselves for teething. She still doesn't have any teeth cutting through, but some days she acts like she does. And she gums HARD. She gets a hold of our fingers sometimes, and its impressive how hard she bites down.
This is a great age--she picks up new things almost every day now, and it's so much fun to watch her learn and figure things out:)
