5 Months!!
Today, Evelyn is 5 months old:) She is 14.5lbs, in 3-6 month clothes, and size 2 diapers. She is smiling, cooing, chewing on her hands, trying to find her feet, and doing her best to roll over. She is reaching for toys, grasping some of them, and sticks everything she can into her mouth. She recently started bunching her bib up in her hands and nomming on it. She has a weird space toy called a Winkel that she likes to roll back and forth on her playmat with, chewing on the loops.
She sleeps through the night, from about 10pm to 7am on average. Sometimes she falls asleep earlier or later, and wakes up anywhere between 5am and 9am. But she has dropped the middle-of-the-night feedings. Which Mommy and Daddy sincerely appreciate. She still sleeps in the Rock-n-Play next to our bed (which is due in part to Mommy being insecure about letting her sleep further away than arm's length), but takes naps in her crib or play pen. Tonight will be her first night in the cradle!
We started her on rice cereal this month after her 4-month check up with the pediatrician. She is getting the hang of it, and is beginning to be more interested in what we're doing at mealtimes. When she's about 6 months, we'll start purees, but we haven't decided if we're going to make our own baby food or pay $1 per jar for the stuff you buy at the store :-x
We went to our first play-date today! There were no other little babies, but Evelyn got to hang out and watch the big kids while Mommy chatted with some real-life adults! The coordinator for the group that arranges the play-dates asked me to host an infant play-date at our house once a month...I said I'd think about it :-x
Evelyn is getting so big! She likes to sit up now, but still needs a lot of support. She likes hanging out in her exersaucer, but can't really reach many of the toys yet. She loves when we talk to her and make faces. She will coo and giggle and kick her little legs.
And she's getting to be a pro at having her picture taken:) She's starting to smile when she sees me hold up a camera. Although, right now, it's fairly easy to get her to smile just by making a new sound or blowing her a raspberry.
