Up late

Evelyn is now 1 month old and finally over 5lbs:) We've been slowly adjusting to the lack of sleep, at least in large chunks, as well as the need for naps. Evelyn is a good baby--she only cries when something is wrong or she is being forced to suffer the indignity of a diaper change. She has bouts of gas, but is generally easily calmed if we can find a position she is more comfortable in. We are trying to get her used to sleeping on her own. She came home with a strong preference for being held, but is adjusting to her bassinet and bouncer seat nicely as long as she's comfortable. The next task will be adjusting her to getting her to sleep somewhere flat so we can have some semblance of a nighttime routine that doesn't involve one of us napping on the couch so her little grunts, squeaks, and cries don't disturb the other's turn at having a solid chunk of sleep.

Evelyn is eating well--she takes about an ounce and a half (sometimes more) when she gets a bottle, and nursing has been getting easier. She is getting a little chubbier in the face, and it feels like her head is growing faster than anything else:P She is growing longer, as well. Some of her little preemie sized outfits are getting too short, and she is squarely in between the preemie and newborn sizes.

We're sitting up now, Evie and I, working out a little bit of gas. Luckily, Daddy's shift starts in 20 minutes;) Grandma has us all spoiled--she came and took some nighttime shifts this weekend so Tim and I could all get a little more sleep...now its back to the new normal with Tim's first days back in the office this week.

I know...sleep when the baby sleeps.
