Tim and I went in for our first appointment with the ICC (Intermediate Care Clinic) unit at the OB's office today. They took my weight, checked my blood pressure (surprise, surprise! It was high!), then stuck me on fetal heart rate and contraction monitors for a Non-Stress test. I stayed there for about 30-40 minutes. At one point the doctor used a pulse emitter to wake Bean up because she wasn't being reactive enough. She did a full-body spasm, then ran from all the monitors:P They saw what they needed to see, I got my flu shot, and then went to a different room for a quick ultrasound to check and make sure the amniotic fluid levels were good. They checked my blood pressure again, and it had gone down. The doctor talked with us about my activity level, diet, and travel. Basically, I should be taking it easy--not spending all day on housework or anything. He said I can cut back on salt, but it probably won't help because my blood volume is high due to pregnancy anyway. And I should keep travel to a minimum. It's OK to leave the house for classes, occasional errands, baby shower, etc, but I shouldn't be "leaving the state" or going on any major trips.
The doctor told us to be prepared for possible early admittance to the hospital, possible long-term stay at the hospital, or possible early delivery. He said he'd like to see us make it to 37 weeks, or at least 34. And any additional symptoms could possibly land us back in Labor & Delivery for long-term monitoring. But as long as everything stays about the same, he'll let us go as long as Bean stays put. So we're just going to take it one day at a time.
I'm going to have appointments for non-stress tests, measurements, and a quick ultrasound twice per week with the ICC unit. I'm trying to keep our appointments later in the day to make it easier on Tim and/or Mom...I don't have work to miss, but whoever comes to sit with me does:-/
Over the weekend, we got about 5-6 inches of snow and lost power overnight between Saturday and Sunday. We ended up spending the night at Tim's Grandpa's house. And the recording at the power company said we could be without power until Wednesday. But when we came back to get more clothes and clean up, our power was back on! So we're safe and warm here in Elizabethtown:)
Pumpkins with snow-caps
Trees and bushes looking a little weighed-down.
Snow plow that sat there for a couple of hours, then drove away without actually plowing anything.
We heard lots of branches cracking and snapping and falling in the woods.
Trick or Treat is tonight, and we're excited to hang out and hand out candy:) I even got all our pumpkins and gourds sitting out by the door and am getting ready to go turn on the porch lights:)
