When we got back, we went right to work. Mom and I started prepping and painting the living room (the color is called Silver Screen) while Tim tried to get the yardwork started. After some time, we heard the lawn mower start, then grind frighteningly:P Turns out he couldn't get the brand new weed whacker to start at all, then ended up spending some time oiling and tinkering with the mower. But he did finally get one side of the yard mowed before we called him in for lunch--at which point it started raining. And then it rained off and on the entire weekend.
We didn't get any more mowing done, but did get that caterpillar nest cut out of the tree by the garage and trimmed the bushes out front. We tried to do some laundry, but couldn't find any clothespins in any of the stores nearby. We ended up with plastic clips I found at Kmart and were only able to hang stuff to dry on the single line in the basement. So...we couldn't finish the laundry either.
Mom and I got the living room cut-in twice and rolled once (and I got banished at one point because the paint smell was too strong--I couldn't tell because I had a head cold:-x) Tim and I rolled it once more before bed, then cleaned up and called it a day. Tim did manage to fix the door to the master bath (which didn't latch when we shut it) and switched out the shower head in the guest bath. And we moved another load of boxes in.
Finally, right before bed, I decided to take a bath in the only tub in the house because I ached and smelled funny. And when I went downstairs, water was leaking through the ceiling fan in the kitchen. Ugh. Tim checked the pipes through the access panel in the office closet and couldn't see any leaking, so we assume that there's something wrong with the drain...We just put the biggest bucket we could find under the ceiling fan and went to bed.
We spent Sunday morning/afternoon relaxing, cleaning up, and sorting through some of the boxes we'd brought (as well as the ones Mom dropped off). I hung up some curtains in the dining room and one in the kitchen. And then we put sheets over the back door until we can figure out what to do with the screws for the venetian blinds that weren't anchored into any studs and are now causing the drywall to crack and fall apart in at least one spot above the door. (I'm tempted to pull out all the anchors, patch everything, repaint it, and then just hang up some nice curtains on a rod that's anchored into the studs on either side of the door).
Owning a house is exhausting :-x

| Before painting. Not too dramatic, but way less shiny. The hi-gloss was a little much. |
