Memorial Day Weekend

What a weekend! We started off at a Harrisburg Senators game and got stormed on twice, the game being called in the 6th inning during the second storm. They just seemed to stall at the river and hang over the city. So, when the second storm hit, we just went home for the night.
Saturday was the Memorial Day cookout at Mom's. Mamaw and Papaw were there, Tim's parents came, and Emily's family came. And we chose this time to tell everyone about Bean:) With cookies. That we thought would be a dead giveaway.
We handed one tin to Mamaw and one tin to Fran, thinking they would get it right away. It took a few minutes, but they figured it out;) I really should have had my camera out, because their faces were priceless:)

On Sunday, we went to Church with Tim's grandpa and his parents, then headed off to look at 4 new houses. We looked at 4 that were a little different from what we'd seen before...smaller lots, older houses, etc, to make sure the one we had our eye on was right. And even with the things we don't like about it (like the retention pond), the other properties and houses didn't quite match up.
We looked at the Mount Joy St property with Tim's parents. Tim noticed some neighbors on the other side of the retention pond had mowed back to the creek that runs through our property, built a bridge over it, and had mowed a trail through the woods that we would own if we bought the house. Dave found some plumbing he recalled being involved in a few class action lawsuits. There were some concerns about the dampness of the walls in the basement and the floating pad floor creating risk for Radon exposure. We also don't know what exactly our responsibilities would be regarding the pond and what exactly we can do with the wooded area around the stream. Could we clear out the underbrush to create more usable space in the yard?
So we're waiting for a few answers to come back from the realtor, then I think we're going to put in an offer on the property, especially since the price continues to drop. It's gone from $260,000 to $235,000 in a few months.
We spent Monday hanging out with parents. I went to Friendly's with Mom and we took our ice cream to little round top. It was blazing hot, but the honeysuckle was blooming all over the hill and smelled great. We had grilled steak with Tim's parents for dinner, then loaded up the car and headed back to Philly. Tim stopped at the auto store and got supplies to re-charge the AC in my car, since it's going to be especially hot and dry the next few days....
